This manuscript does not seek to prove the existence of the figure herein discussed.
That task has already failed.
Instead, it seeks to catalogue what remains consistent when names, eras, and witnesses disagree — and to preserve those consistencies before time renders them indistinguishable from folklore.
The subject of this work has been referred to by many titles.
